In Search of Nabad is a feature length documentary film that delves into Seattle’s Somali community and emerges with the powerful stories that have defined, scarred and pushed its people to a relentless search for peace. Somalia has been devastated by civil war since 1991, and its people have had to flee for their own survival. Seattle has opened its doors to these refugees, who now number in the tens of thousands in our city and its surroundings. This film presents multiple perspectives, from Somali refugees to State Legislators, from first generation children to the activists rallying in their name, and many others in between.
Our aim is to cultivate a deeper understanding of our neighbors, from their journey here to their continued search for peace in their new home. In Search of Nabad will be submitted to film festivals, local and beyond, and shown at various local community organizations.
